Europe's space ambitions just got a massive boost. German rocket company ISAR Aerospace announced a €150 million convertible bond with Miami-based Eldridge Industries—the largest commercial space funding round in European history. This landmark investment positions Europe to reclaim its leadership in space access while building the infrastructure that powers modern life.

From Munich to orbit

"We are catering to the rising global demand for satellite launch services and provide global markets and governments with independent and flexible access to space," said Daniel Metzler, ISAR's CEO and co-founder. "This investment demonstrates strong confidence from global markets in our efforts to build a new space champion."

The funding will expand ISAR's launch capabilities and series production facilities near Munich, scaling rocket manufacturing to serve growing global demand for satellite launches.

Four hundred engineers, fifty nations, one mission

Founded in 2018, ISAR has rapidly grown to over 400 employees from more than 50 nations across five international locations. Their mission: "opening space for future generations."

The company's Spectrum rocket showcases cutting-edge European engineering—a 28-meter vehicle delivering 1,000 kg to orbit using clean propulsion technology. ISAR manufactures 80% of components in-house using advanced materials like carbon composites and 3D printing.

In March 2025, ISAR achieved a historic milestone with the first commercial orbital launch attempt from Continental Europe, gathering valuable data for future missions.

Forty rockets a year

The Eldridge investment enables ISAR to manufacture up to 40 rockets annually, establishing it as a significant global launch provider. With competitive pricing at €10,000 per kilogram to orbit, ISAR offers excellent value while strengthening European space capabilities.

Eldridge Industries' backing validates that European space companies can compete and win in the global market, bringing together international capital with European innovation.

A bright future ahead

ISAR's €150 million funding represents more than investment—it's a vote of confidence in Europe's space future. As satellite technology becomes essential for everything from navigation to climate monitoring, European companies like ISAR are building the infrastructure for tomorrow.

This success story shows how European innovation, international collaboration, and strategic vision can create world-class space capabilities that serve both commercial markets and European interests.
